Misawa Air Show

The Misawa Air Show was Sunday, right after our Hachinohe pre-airshow. Chris and I got up super early (like 3am or something) so we could be at the flight-line by 4am for setup.

There was a good group of people setting up, so it went pretty fast. This is a couple hours into the morning, sometime after the rain slowed down and the sun came out. The boys sold squadron goods, and the wives sold cakes, cupcakes, twinkies and ho-hos.

You can see most of the cakes in this picture; there are another hundred or so stacked up on a table outside of the photograph. Just a note about the cakes... We sold something like 500 cakes (plain, yellow or chocolate cakes made from Betty Crocker boxed cake mix without frosting). They went like CRAZY! In fact, we were sold out within hours. After we sold out of cakes, a few other groups that had made cakes came down to our booth (we must have had a prime location) and finished selling out of their cakes as well. People bought like 5 at a time!

The kids in the squadron were pretty valuable for pushing cake samples:)

Laura and Anna, selling bags full of cakes.

This lady must be a 13th fan. She's wearing a shirt that was sold at the air show last year, and was signed by Jesse. She came back by the booth to say hello and get her picture with Jesse again.

There were a couple of guys that brought pictures that they had printed out from the airshow in Hachinohe the day before so that Chris and Jesse could sign them.

I got to help brand the children with tattoos. I felt really bad when I came home that night and tried to wash off my own tattoos before going to dinner... those things are next to impossible to get off your skin!

This Burger King is right outside the entrance to the air show. Can you believe that line??? The hamburgers here and the ones sold inside the air show were a HUGE hit.

The Japanese are so orderly. They all had their little mats to sit on and everyone made sure and removed their shoes before sitting on the mat. So much less chaotic than American air shows!

We went for sushi... because that was the booth with the shortest line. I guess the Japanese were taking advantage of the hamburger and hot dog opportunities.

We stayed just long enough to watch the Japanese demo team.

They were pretty good. I liked the heart they drew in the sky:). But by now our early morning was catching up with us and we went back home and took a LONG nap! Right before we fell asleep, it started pouring. So I guess it wasn't a bad thing that we left the air show early!
